RE: Side Patio Choices

Just FYI. Last week we did the factory tours at GD, Alliance, and Jayco. We also toured MORryde one of those mornings. It was one of the most informative trips I've ever taken. Seeing how the whole process works was impressive.

RE: RV Vinyl Wrap

The toy hauler we're contemplating is the Alliance Valor 42V13. I hate the new look. Straight lines and black wheels. But everything else about the camper is fantastic. If they'll leave it just white, it will most likely be our pick. We also are seriously considering the Jayco Seismic 4113. Regarding factory tours, it seems multiple models are made on the same line. At Jayco, the Pinnacles, North Points, Seismics, and Siesmic Luxury Editions are all made on the same line. You just have to pick the right week to tour if you want to see the brand of your choice. One brand per week.

RE: RV Vinyl Wrap

I'd be curious to know the difference in price of a wrap vs paint on a new rig. In our case with the multiple colors and swirl designs, a paint job was going to be 50k vs the 10k for the wrap. We expect 7 to 8 years on the wrap before we need to do it again as we keep it under cover when not using it. Paint will definitely last longer and just doing graphics is the most reasonably priced way to go. Looking forward to hearing which option the op decides to do. It's definitely going to be awhile. Looks like we're not going to Elkhart until November. That will answer a lot of questions.

RE: RV Vinyl Wrap

The wrap will last 5 years or so.... suggest you have it painted with the design and colors you want and then you have a permanent solution vs a temporary That does concern me. My campers have stayed in the shade while at home. They're underneath a shelter with a 90% shade cloth. The only time they see sunlight is during trips. Not sure how much difference that will make.

RE: RV Vinyl Wrap

We had the 40' Allegro Bus completely wrapped last April. Cost was $10k. That included taking off the mirrors, wiper motor/arms, window awnings, etc and removing all the old caulk around all windows, door, and all seams. After the wrap is completed, they recaulk everything with clear caulk. It made our 2003 coach look brand new and we got a fresh caulking job included on all seams, windows, door, and attached accessories. Great story.

RE: RV Vinyl Wrap

Went by the graphics shop I found via Google. I never knew of this place in the back of an industrial park but WOW, were they impressive. They were working on multiple projects and we got the full tour. In the end, for me to get multiple designs with my guidance, have the camper washed and prepped, and then have the graphics installed was going to cost me approximately $8.50 per sq. ft. Roughly $9,000-$10,000. They use 3M products which come with a 5 year warranty. I have another shop I plan to go to. But all this is just for me to learn so when we go to Elkhart, I can make a more informed decision before ordering with no graphics, their standard graphics, or full body paint. Thanks for everyone's input.

RE: RV Vinyl Wrap

I know someone who had there entire 42' fiver wrapped. I believe the pre-pandemic/inflation cost was $8K That's a rough estimate of what I've seen as well. There's just so little information to find. Thanks for the input.

RE: RV Vinyl Wrap

That sounds like a solution without a problem to me... Nice. :R He already said what the problem is: He thinks their factory graphics are ugly. That’s a problem, right? Thank you.

RV Vinyl Wrap

In about a month, we hope to tour several manufacturers; including Alliance. I love so much about the Alliance Valor toy haulers except the graphics. Unless they've changed their full body paint, that is no better than their stock graphic package in my opinion. Basically, I just don't like them at all. One crazy question I plan to ask them is if there is an option for me to order a toy hauler and have them leave their graphics package off entirely. My guess is they may not like the idea of not having their name plastered all over the sides but I dislike them enough, I won't buy that brand if it's my only option. So now my question. Has anyone here ever done a vinyl wrap on their camper? A full wrap would obviously cover the entire graphics package on the camper but if the camper was left white, I could just do a custom striping package in a style I like. Not nearly as much cost I assume. I see there are companies that offer this and I found one in my area. I plan to talk with them soon. But this just seems like an idea I'm surprised isn't more popular than it already is. It may be just too darned expensive but I'd love to look further into it.

RE: Side Patio Choices

Have a friend with a 399 the fold down patio takes 3 men and a boy to put it back in ken That is weird. Our Vengeance had a patio probably a good 12' long. It was definitely longer than any other toy hauler side patio I ever saw at the campgrounds. Sure it's a little stout but I could push it up by myself with no problem.

Side Patio Choices

My wife and I are headed to Elkhart either the last weekend of October or first weekend of November. We plan to visit Alliance, Jayco, and Grand Design. Our last toy hauler, the Vengeance 40D12, had a huge side patio and it became one of the best features we've ever enjoyed on a toy hauler. Most of today's models don't seem to have side patios quite as big but in turn, they offer a small slideout on that same side of the camper. So it's an acceptable trade-off. Just looking for opinions from actual owners of these models. I've browsed a little in their owner forums but I'm now asking here. Any owners of the: Jayco Seismic 4113 Alliance Valor 42V13 Grand Design Momentum 399 Thanks

RE: 2024 Super Duty Order Banks

Well today brought good news for many people on the Ford Trucks forums, including me. Lot's of "scheduled production date" emails went out. My email stated the truck was scheduled for production the week of October 9. It also included the VIN.

RE: Parts shortages

I have no issue with some kind of direct sales if that's how they want to go. But looking back (COVID is easy to blame): 1. Chip shortages created havoc; especially for diesel sales. Chips are an outdated design. 2. All this money going into EVs for Ford. It seems the regular cars are propping up the EVs. Lately, Ford's reliability record hasn't been too impressive. Almost as if they're short changing the gas/diesel improvements and quality control. 3. The EVs just aren't impressive. Tesla is light years ahead. 4. Now all these part shortages. Seen a few guys on the Ford truck forums with broken down brand new Super Duties and no guess as to when Ford can get them the part. I honestly think Farley should step down. But as long as he can redirect public opinion by bringing up some crazy new idea, he'll be able to stay. Squirrel!

RE: Parts shortages

My guess is Jim Farley will come out with some other big announcement about something completely irrelevant to this issue. Anything to deflect problems. Maybe he'll expand on that whole "selling directly to the consumer" thing.

RE: Factory Tours

Thanks to everyone. We're really looking forward to it. Still looking at the latter part of October. Campinghoss@51. Just between you and me. We looked at the Brinkley's at the Tampa Show back in January. I just don't see all the hype; especially for the price.

Factory Tours

Has anyone here ever done a factory tour? We're hoping to head to Elkhart in October. Planning to go to Grand Design, Alliance, and Jayco before we place our order. Just wondering what you thought, where'd you stay, etc. Any other tips? I know the RV Museum is there and we may do that if there's time but this is definitely a fact finding trip. Thanks

RE: How to search for tires?

I have a landscape business so I'm often buying trailer tires. The vast majority of the time, I'm getting a set off eBay. But for what you're looking and the fact your ranges are so broad, I'd look for a good used set off Craigslist. Craigslist has a section for wheels and tires and if you put in something like "LT 16" in the search bar, you might find a nice slightly used set that could be perfect for trailer use.

RE: Financing Rates These Days

In the past, 4.99% has been our norm for campers. With that being said, what rates are people seeing on towables in late 2023? I'm almost afraid to hear the responses. Looking back at this thread over the past few days, I must bring up the fact that this one line I made in the beginning was all I was asking for. I wasn't asking "what interest rate do you think I'll qualify for?" Thank you to those; especially in the beginning, who responded. It was very informative and it somewhat confirmed what I thought was happening out there. As for my plans on what to buy and what to finance, I'll continue to do research and although I have a tentative plan, I'll keep my options open. One thing's for sure. Whatever I do, I won't be bringing that information here to the forums. Thanks again. If the moderators want to close this thread, I have no opposition to that at all. This one has run its course.

RE: Financing Rates These Days

Agree with way2roll ... you'll probably keep the truck longer than the RV, and if not, they are separate so you can split them if you need to change one or the other. Probably get better rate on the truck too, for shorter term. You will also get a better trade on the truck later, if you decide to do it. With the mack daddy setup that this dude has been “trying” to purchase and bellyaching about for a while now, I’d hope it’s the combo he wants to keep for a good long time… For 3/4% difference. Finance the RV, unless it’s your only home. That way if something happens and the bank comes calling at least you still have wheels! Or vice versa if it’s the primary roof over your head. Still tryin to figure out what the question really is. The rate is going to be what HE qualifies for. Regardless of what anyone else’s experience is. And to that end can find current rates published literally everywhere. And appears to have financed multiple RVs in the past, albeit for the same rate each time? If you must know, my score is usually in the high 700s with an occasional bump over 800. And yes, I have had 4.99% on every camper I've financed in the past. But that is not how things are these days.

RE: Financing Rates These Days

I guess this type of stuff is hard to look up on the same internet one uses to access this forum, so I did it for you. The credit Union we used to use for loans says 6.5% on RVs and 5.75% on vehicles. But your credit may vary, so this is a silly question. We don’t know your overall creditworthiness. Seems every camping trip we've taken (since 2004) to any fairly popular RV park, there's this one guy who hardly ever talks to anyone and nobody talks to him. He acts all bad-ace as if he thinks everyone is admiring his mediocre and average rig. In his mind, his HD truck was somehow produced as a fluke and has twice the torque and HP as all the others that came off the assembly line that day. His 38' camper is actually the largest and heaviest ever produced. Hence the 1000HP and 2000 lb/ft of torque. In reality, nobody's looking at his rig because they don't really care. Their more involved with their friends and family. The main reason he doesn't talk to anyone is because he doesn't really know how to be friendly. Being a hard-ace is his safe place because it allows him to continue believing everyone is gawking at how awesome he is. So we just let him go on being that way. We'd love to strike up a conversation and maybe even invite him and his wife over to our group campfire but it just seems he doesn't want to be bothered. It would have been nice to just have them come over, contribute to our conversation, and we'd all have a great weekend. Simmer down, bud… And you have a very vivid imagination I see…. Or just a funny guy, idk. Shoot, I help /assist more people, just in this forum each week than you have in a 12month search of your posts here. Although with the age degeneration here, it’s hard for people to take advice they don’t want to hear. (A crazy phenomenon with only this forum compared to the others I’m on). When’s the last time you’ve given any tangible help here and not just posted about the truck you’ve apparently been trying to buy for years now or similar experiences you’re “sharing” with the group. You don’t know me…not a tough guy, and I understand exactly how much power my truck does or doesn’t have….wherever that comment came from… But if you even remotely paid attention, and wanted to learn something, you’d realize I know a thing or 2 about vehicles and RVs and the mechanics of them, and I willingly share that info with folks who have questions. Now go call your bank and find out what the interest rates are. Or if you’d like, post up your SSN and credit score and I can get you a real quote for the loans…cause I’m a nice guy despite your little rant and hurt feelers. Lol This is just fun. You know, in the real world a smart person can’t p!ss off everyone who’s wrong by telling them what is right. Bad for business and bad for the career. But honesty is easier when you don’t answer to the folks who are wrong. Cheers have a good day. It's all good. You see, I haven't researched all your posts in the past so I don't have any idea how many people you help on a regular basis. I just know I asked a simple question and your response came off rather snarky. But since you've been the one to clearly tell me you're a nice guy and you've helped countless people here, then I'll take it at that. For all the others who have responded. One thing I've learned in the financing world is no matter how much research you do, there is usually that one company that you've never heard of that is offering some kind of great rate or some kind of special deal. That's how I found one of the three credit unions I'm a member of. I can check my credit unions and my local bank I deal with, but there's almost always some company out there that can beat them if you look hard enough. Credit Unions usually aren't big fans of financing RVs; especially towables. Bank of the West has beat my credit unions twice in the past. A prime example is when you buy a new truck and even though your credit union is at ???, some specific financing institution across the country has some special thing they're doing to try to lure new customers or they know they have to dig deep to get those new customers who have never heard of them before. They may even have some deal worked out with that manufacturer or dealership. That's what I'm looking for. I'd much rather know before I walk in the dealership's door if something like that exists today. I assumed I could ask here on the forum site because that's the kind of thing people do here.
